Prof. Dim-Lee Kwong is the Executive Director of the Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore and a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He was the Executive Director of the Institute of Microelectronics (IME) from 2005-2016, the Earl N. and Margaret Bransfield Endowed Professor at the University of Texas at Austin from 1990-2007 and a Temasek Professor at NUS from 2001-2004. Prof. Kwong received the IBM Faculty Award for 1984-86, Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) Inventor Awards in 1993 and 1994, Halliburton Foundation Research Award in 1994, Engineering Foundation Outstanding Teaching Award in 1995, IEEE George Smith Award in 2007, and the 2011 IEEE Frederik Philips Award with citation: "For leadership in silicon technology and excellence in the management of microelectronics R&D." Hong Wang received the BSc, MEng and PhD degrees from Huainan University of Mining Engineering (AHUST) and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in P R China 1982, 1984 and 1987, respectively. He then worked as a postdoc at Salford, Brunel and Southampton Universities (UK) between 1988 and 1992. He joined UMIST (UK) in 1992 and had been a Professor in April, 2002 before he joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (UK) as a lab fellow and chief scientist in controls earlier in 2016.Hong Wang is a fellow of IEE and InstMC, a member of 3 International Federation of Automatic Control Technical Cttee and associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology and IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering. He was associate editor of leading control journal IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, editorial board member for 7 international journals and has served as IPC member and conference chairman for many international conferences. Wang's research are in advanced control design for complex systems with applications in power grid and industrial process control, he originated the work on stochastic distribution control, where the main purpose of control input design is to make the shape of the output probability density functions to follow a targeted function. He is the leading author of three books and has also published over 300 papers in international journals and conferences.

Xiaodong Wang was an assistant professor from July 1998 to December 2001 at the Department of Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M University. In January 2002, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University as an assistant professor. Dr. Wang's research interests fall in the general areas of computing, signal processing, and communications. He has worked and published extensively in the areas of wireless communications, statistical signal processing, parallel and distributed computing, nanoelectronics, and quantum computing. Mi Lu received the MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Rice University, in 1984 and 1987, respectively. She joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, Texas A&M University in 1987, and is currently a professor. Her research interests include parallel computing, computer architectures, computer networks, energy efficiency, and VLSI algorithms. She has published a book and 160 technical papers in these areas. She has served as guest editor of Journal of Computer Science and Engineering, Scientific and Academic Publishing, associate editor of the Journal of Computing and Information, and the Information Sciences Journal. Lu was the conference chairperson of the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh International Conference on Computer Science and Informatics. She has been the chairperson of nearly 50 research advisory committees for PhD/Master students. She is a senior member of the IEEE. Professor Vijay Varadan is currently the Twenty First Century Endowed Chair in Nano-and Bio-Technology and Medicine and Distinguished Professor of Electrical Engineering and Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering (in College of Engineering) and Neurosurgery (in the College of Medicine) at the University of Arkansas. He is also a Professor of Neurosurgery at Penn State University College of Medicine. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Madras (India), an M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Penn State University, and a Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Northwestern University. He holds honorary doctorate degrees in Nano- and Bio-Technologies and Medicine from India, Australia and Finland. Dr. Xiao-Hua Yu received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of California, Irvine. Currently, she is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Dr. Yu has served in the organization and program committees of various international conferences, and she also serves on the editorial board of the international journal of artificial intelligence. A. Abu-Siada (M’07, SM’12) received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Ain Shams University, Egypt and his PhD degree from Curtin University, Australia, all in Electrical Engineering. Currently he is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Curtin University. His research interests include power system stability, condition monitoring, power electronics and power quality. Koksal ERENTURK received his B.S. degree (with honors) from Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 1994. He also obtained his M.S. degree from Istanbul University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 1997, and Ph.D. degree from Karadeniz Technical University, Trabzon, Turkey, in 2002, all in electrical engineering. Prof. L. Q. Wang received his PhD from University of Alberta (Canada) in 1995 and is a full professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the University of Hong Kong. He is also the Qianren Scholar (Zhejiang) and serves as the director and the chief scientist for the Laboratory for Nanofluids and Thermal Engineering, Zhejiang Institute of Research and Innovation (HKU-ZIRI), the University of Hong Kong. He has many years of university experience in thermal & power engineering, energy & environment, transport phenomena, materials, nanotechnology, biotechnology, and applied mathematics in Canada, China/Hong Kong, Singapore and the USA. Prof. Wang has secured over 70 projects funded by diverse funding agencies and industries including the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong, the National Science Foundation of China and the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and has published 10 books/monographs and over 340 book chapters and technical articles, many of which have been widely used by researchers all over the world. He is on the list of the top 1% most cited scholars. He has also filed 22 patent applications and led a team in developing a state-of-the-art thermal control system for the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) on the International Space Station. The AMS project is headed by Professor Samuel C. C. Ting (Nobel laureate in Physics, MIT, USA) and is to search for antimatter, dark matter and spectra of cosmic rays. Prof. Wang was visiting professor of Harvard University (2008) and Duke University (2003). Er Meng Joo is currently a Full Professor in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He served as the Founding Director of Renaissance Engineering Programme and an elected member of the NTU Advisory Board from 2009 to 2012. Furthermore, he served as a member of the NTU Senate Steering Committee from 2010 to 2012. M. M. Eissa (M’96–SM’01) was born in Helwan, Cairo, Egypt, on May 17, 1963. He received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Helwan University, Cairo, in 1986 and 1992, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the Research Institute for Measurements and Computing Techniques. Goran Strbac is a Professor of Energy Systems, with extensive experience in advanced modelling and analysis of operation, planning, security and economics of energy systems. He led the development of novel advanced analysis approaches and methodologies that have been extensively used to inform industry, governments and regulatory bodies abut the role and value of emerging new technologies and systems in supporting cost effective evolution to smart low carbon future. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the SmartGrids European Technology Platform, co-chair of EU WG on Sustainable Districts and Built Environment of Smart Cities,Director of the UK Centre for Grid Scale Energy Storage,participates in working groups and committees within CIGRE, CIRED IET, IEEE and IEA. He co-authored 4 books and published over 180 technical papers.

My research focuses on the advanced electricity system modelling, that has been widely applied to comprehensively assess cost, carbon and security performance of future low-carbon electricity systems, covering all sectors of the electricity system. Our novel whole-system analysis approaches and modelling methodologies have been extensively used to inform electricity industry, governments and regulatory bodies abut the technical, economic and market challenges associated with future low carbon electricity systems including analysis of the role and value of emerging technologies, such storage, demand side response and a range of advanced transmission and distribution network technologies.

Bin Wu is a professor in the Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department at the University of Missouri, and director of the Missouri Industrial Assessment Center. Wu is an internationally-recognized expert in the design and management of manufacturing and supply systems, and he has written a number of books on the subject that have been adopted as standard undergraduate and postgraduate texts worldwide. He is the recipient of numerous awards and established the International Journal of Manufacturing System Design, acting as its editor in chief since 1996. His research has been funded by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the Kauffman Foundation, the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy. Jian Wang is the Professor of Aircraft Technology and research director in the school of Aerospace and Aircraft Engineering. He received the B Eng in solid mechanics at the National University of Defence Technology, China, in 1982. After working in the industry in China for nearly 10 years, He came to the UK in 1993 and completed his Ph.D. in 1998 at Cardiff University, where he worked as a research associate before moving to Cambridge University in a similar role. He was then a lecturer at Queen’s University Belfast before joining Kingston University In September 2009. Jian’s main research areas include renewable energy, structural design, vibro-acoustic and noise control, structure & flow interactions, and aircraft anti-icing. He has secured research funding from EPSRC, TSB, and Industry. He was awarded the 2010 Kenneth Harris James Prize by the Aerospace Division of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the George Stephenson Prize from the IMechE. Bing Wang received a doctor degree in engineering from Tsinghua University and completed a visiting research from Technological University of Munich as a Humboldt Fellow. He is the vice deputy director of School of Aerospace Engineering Tsinghua University. NI Mingjiang is now the professor and director of Institute for Sustainable Energy, Zhejiang University. Wenping Cao (M’05-SM’11) received the B.Eng in electrical engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing, China, in 1991, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical machines and drives from the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, U.K., in 2004. He is currently a Chair Professor of Electrical Power Engineering with Aston University, Birmingham, U.K., and also a Marie Curie Fellow with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, U.S.A. His research interests include fault analysis and condition monitoring of electric machines and power electronics. Prof. Cao was the recipient of the Best Paper Award at the 2013 International Symposium on Linear Drives for Industry Applications (LDIA), the Innovator of the Year Award from Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K., in 2013, and the Dragon’s Den Competition Award from Queen’s University Belfast in 2014. He serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON INDUSTRY APPLICATIONS, IEEE Industry Applications Magazine and IET Power Electronics; he is also the Chief Editor for three Special Issues and one book, an Editor for Electric Power Components and Systems Journal as well as nine other International Journals. Meihong was trained as Process Engineer in China, moved to the UK in 1999 to join Imperial College London as Research Assistant (also part-time PhD at University College London), and then Postdoctoral Research Fellow in 2002. From 2004 to 2006, he worked as Senior Engineer in Alstom Power, UK. From 2006 to 2012, he worked at Cranfield University as Lecturer and MSc Course Director. He joined the University of Hull in 2012 as Reader in Process and Energy Systems Engineering, was promoted to Professor in Aug. 2014. Meihong is a Chartered Engineer. He has published over 100 technical papers and industrial reports. One of his publications (Lazic et al., 2014) was awarded SAGE Best Paper Prize 2014 and also Ludwig Mond Prize 2014 by IMechE. Another paper (Wang et al., 2011) is the most cited paper in Chemical Engineering Research and Design since 2010. He has been involved in 14 research projects worth around £8.84 million from Research Councils, European Union and Industry as investigators. Meihong leads the Process and Energy Systems Engineering Research Group at the University of Hull with 12 researchers.

AbuBakr Bahaj leads the 55-strong Energy and Climate Change Division at the University of Southampton, where he completed his PhD, progressing from a researcher to a Personal Chair in Sustainable Energy. For more than 25 years, Professor Bahaj has pioneered sustainable energy research and established the energy theme within the University. Prof. Tapas Kumar Mallick received his M.Tech and PhD in solar energy engineering from Jadavpur University, India (1998) and University of Ulster, UK (2003) respectively. He has over seventeen years of research experience in solar energy technologies. He is currently the Chair in Clean Technologies (Renewables) within the Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) and Academic Lead, Renewable Energy, University of Exeter, UK. He has published over 150 research articles and holds two patents on solar technology and has been serving Editorial board of Advances of Solar Thermal Technology Journal. Recently his group has demonstrated biomimicry of white periodic butterfly wings into concentrating solar photovoltaics. Prof. Mallick successfully supervised six PhD candidates to completion and currently primary supervisor of fourteen PhD students.

Suna Bolat was born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1979. She received B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD degrees from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in Electrical and Electronics Faculty in Istanbul, Turkey. She is presently working as an assistant professor at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU). Her research interests are in the areas of discharge phenomena, generation and measurement of high voltages, and numerical methods for electrostatic field analysis

Ahmad M. Harb receive his Ph.D. degree from Virginia Tech., Virginia, USA, in 1996. Currently, he is an a Professor at German Jordanian University (GJU). Dr. Harb is IEEE senior member. Dr. Harb served as dean for the school of natural resources engineering at GJU (Sept. 2011 – Sept. 2013). Dr. Harb is the Editor-in-Chief for two international journals, IJMNTA and IJPRES. Dr. Harb has published more than 65 journal articles and conference proceedings.
